From what I can tell so far, it appears to be something of a private yacht mystery.

Revenge, Ghost Stories, and Misbehavior
Setting an eerie, ominous tone, Depp delivers a chilling voiceover that establishes his character’s dark mindset:
“I’ve made a living out of misbehavior,” Depp warns. “I see no tangible reason to stop now.”
“My story, perhaps it’s a tale of revenge, or perhaps something worse. What if all this is a ghost story? Or maybe I’m just another day drinker.”
Visually, the teaser delivers heavy doses of high-octane action and atmospheric dread. The footage highlights brutal axe-and-gun combat, hints at supernaturally gifted abilities from Penélope Cruz, and captures tension-filled sequences out on the open ocean. From there, a haunting shot of a woman’s body drifting into the deep ocean waters establishes the tragic incident driving Depp’s quest for vengeance.
