I must admit, I’m a sucker for anything 1970s or set in the 1970s. I’m also a sucker for anything that has the involvement of Quentin Tarantino, which means I’m probably going to be giving The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth a watch this fall.

Well, let me clarify: Tarantino didn’t actually get behind the camera for this one—he wrote the script, but that’s still good enough for me. Directed by David Fincher and set in 1977 (eight years after Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood), the film catches up with Brad Pitt’s Oscar-winning character as L.A. enters a gritty new era.

A New Ensemble and a Shifting Hollywood Landscape

While Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton won’t be back for this chapter, Timothy Olyphant returns to reprise his role as actor James Stacy. He joins a heavy-hitting supporting cast that includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, and JB Tadena.

The initial teaser trailer kicks off inside L.A.’s legendary Beverly Cinema before plunging straight into classic Tarantino-esque chaos: high-speed car chases, gritty bar brawls, and unexpected mud-wrestling pits.

In one standout trailer exchange, a character questions Booth about his former employer:

“You worked with Rick Dalton for a number of years. What brought an end to your engagement?”

“Oh, Rick got too fat for me to double him anymore,” Cliff quips back in signature deadpan fashion.

Set against a backdrop of murder, extortion, theft, and blackmail, 1977 Los Angeles has moved on from the fairytale days of 1969. The city may no longer require a hippie-slaying stunt double, but tinsel town will always run into shady situations that demand someone with Cliff’s specific, off-the-books skillset.

When he isn’t pulling shifts behind a bar or running a movie projector, Cliff operates as a full-time Hollywood fixer—handling messy problems for the entertainment industry’s most influential (and most corrupt) figures.
