The cartoon characters face enslavement at an outer-space amusement park by the Nerdlucks, who have lifestyle-locked the NBA\’s elite talent—including Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing—to transform into the terrifying Monstars. Trivia & Production History

  • Commercial Campaign Genesis: The entire multi-million dollar structural asset was famously inspired by a series of highly successful early-90s Nike “Hare Jordan” commercial spots directed by Joe Pytka, proving that ad tracking data could successfully scale into a feature film.
  • The Legendary Jordan Dome: To ensure their star asset maintained peak athletic telemetry for his upcoming Chicago Bulls comeback, Warner Bros. constructed a full-sized, private training facility on the studio lot. Dubbed the “Jordan Dome,” it hosted legendary summer pickup games featuring Reggie Miller, Shaquille O\’Neal, and Magic Johnson.
  • Unprecedented Multi-Platinum Soundtrack Audio: Engineered via Atlantic Records, the accompanying soundtrack payload transformed into a massive multi-platinum commercial engine. It logged over 6 million units sold globally on the strength of dominant hits from Quad-City DJ\’s, Seal, and Coolio.
  • Live-Action Animation Tracking Breakthroughs: The production marked a huge technical leap for Warner Bros. Feature Animation. Software engineers used complex digital tracking matrices to cleanly layer traditional 2D hand-drawn elements onto real-world 35mm physical film tracking sequences.
