Michael Jackson’s Invincible is officially turning 25 years old.
To mark the quarter-century milestone, Sony Music is bringing the King of Pop’s final studio album back to vinyl, giving collectors and die-hard fans a rare opportunity to score an essential piece of pop history. The reissue aligns with this year’s National Album Day National Album Day on October 17, which celebrates the theme of “Icons” alongside fellow legendary acts like Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, and The Who.
For Invincible, the anniversary treatment includes a 2LP format split across a staggered two-day global rollout.

Global Vinyl Rollout & Release Schedule
The anniversary reissue features both a limited-edition Marbled Stone Grey 2LP and a standard Black 2LP pressing:
- October 16, 2026: The Marbled Stone Grey 2LP debuts internationally outside the UK, alongside the worldwide release of the standard Black 2LP edition. U.S. direct-to-consumer pre-orders for the Marbled Stone Grey edition, along with wider retailer pre-orders for the black pressing, launch alongside the National Album Day announcement.
- October 17, 2026: The Marbled Stone Grey 2LP officially lands in the UK as part of National Album Day’s exclusive line of pressings.
The Legacy of MJ’s Final Studio Album
Released on October 30, 2001, Invincible marked Michael Jackson’s tenth and final studio album. And while the media tried to downplay the album at the time, in my opinion, there is no other album from 2001 that has the current impact of Invincible. For example, the “You Rock My World” short film consistently goes viral. Jackson’s performance of the track at his 30th Anniversary Special also frequently goes viral. “Unbreakable” had a viral moment a couple of years ago, and “Heaven Can Wait” is slowly becoming one of Jackson’s most-streamed songs. Not to mention, what Invincible sold at the time of its release is what some artists would literally kill to have…it would be the best-seller in their entire catalog.
Nonetheless, it’s a time of celebration for Invincible, and these vinyls are definitely being added to my collection.
