What’s Included in the Deal?

Starting June 11, Subway customers can upgrade any meal for an additional $1 to receive a limited-edition Moana collectible cup and a promotional movie offer. What you get in return is a collection assortment that features five different character designs inspired by Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation. In addition to the collectible cups, participating customers will receive a $15 Fandango promotional code that can be applied toward the purchase of a movie ticket. Disney’s Moana is the kind of cinematic event that brings families together and creates unforgettable summer memories,” says Jeff Klein, Chief Marketing Officer, who adds, “Through our collaboration with Disney, we wanted to create an experience that extends beyond the theater — from collectible cups and movie rewards to immersive music and digital storytelling inspired by the world of Moana. The Moana Movie Meal Deal is our way of helping fans celebrate the adventure together all summer long.”

But the cups are only just the beginning. Subway and Disney are also rolling out a series of interactive experiences that include a co-branded online destination, in-app takeovers and social media storytelling built around the film’s themes of exploration and wayfinding. This includes select Subway restaurants that will feature themed visual branding tied to the film’s aesthetic. And if that isn’t enough, the campaign will also extend beyond Subway locations into select retail environments, including Walmart, allowing the promotional experience to continue in broader consumer spaces as the film approaches release.

The Synopsis

Per Disney, the live-action Moana plot follows a spirited Polynesian teenager who is chosen by the ocean to restore the heart of the goddess Te Fiti and save her island from a creepy blight. She then journeys beyond the reef to find the legendary demigod Maui, braving treacherous seas and monsters to become a master wayfinder.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for June 11 (tomorrow).
