What is this surprise, you ask? Starting today, Thursday, May 28, 2026, McFarlane Toys has opened pre-orders for the highly anticipated DC Retro: Super Friends Wave 5 6-inch action figure lineup.

The Collection

  • Wonder Woman: Molded completely from her iconic Hanna-Barbera character sheets, this sculpt leans heavily into a vintage aesthetic with a clean red-and-gold bustier, star-patterned briefs and striking crimson boots.
  • Black Vulcan: Finally breaking out of animation obscurity, the Super Friends original powerhouse makes a historic debut in the 6-inch scale. The highlight is the cowl sculpt, meticulously shaping the unique, swept-back wing fins that defined his silhouette during Saturday morning broadcasts.
  • Farmer Superman & Mr. Mxyzptlk Companion Set: This pack is a glorious tribute to the wonderfully absurd, deep-cut filler episodes of the cartoon. Standing at his side is a beautifully scaled Mr. Mxyzptlk.
  • The Red Platinum Chases: Wave 5 serves up a brutal hunt for variant collectors by deploying three incredibly scarce, specialized chase variants. The line includes Universe of Evil Wonder Woman, Crystallized Superman and Phantom Zone Batman.

  • GameStop In-Store Exclusive Drops: Unlike standard silver platinums which are randomly packed, the three highly sought-after Red Platinum Editions (Crystallized Superman, Phantom Zone Batman, and Universe of Evil Wonder Woman) went live for pre-order strictly in-store at GameStop locations today. It’s important to note that these limited allocations will not be sold directly on wide online retail pipelines, though limited stock is expected to hit physical Walmart and Target shelves later this July.
