A Historic Surge
For the tracking week of April 24–30, Jackson’s solo song catalog registered a staggering 137.5 million on-demand streams in the United States, which represents a 146% increase from the prior week and easily eclipses his previous benchmark. To put this in perspective, Jackson’s previous career high was 53.7 million streams, a record set during the Halloween season of 2019 when “Thriller” traditionally sees its annual resurgence.
That momentum extends across the different eras of his career. This means the Jackson 5’s catalog has also jumped 135% to 10.1 million streams, while The Jacksons saw a 57% increase to 4.9 million.
Chart Domination
- Thriller: The landmark 1982 album re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 7, earning 45,000 equivalent units. This is the album’s highest ranking since 1984, excluding its 2022 anniversary reissue.
- Number Ones: His 2004 greatest hits set pushes 20-12 on the Billboard 200, moving 37,000 equivalent album units.
- Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs: Jackson currently holds 10 titles on the 50-position Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. “Billie Jean” leads the pack at No. 5, followed by “Beat It” at No. 9 and “Human Nature” at No. 10. Notably, both “Human Nature” and “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” earned new peaks on the ranking, surpassing their previous highs of No. 27 and No. 46, respectively.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson, Michael has generated a massive global response. The film covers Jackson’s life from 1966 to 1988, and its success is clearly acting as a catalyst for a new era of engagement with his musical legacy.
