MLB kicks off the 2026 season by unlocking its video vaults for TikTok creators. See how the new MLB Hub and GamePlan suite are changing the Opening Day experience.

Remixing the Diamond: MLB and TikTok’s New ‘GamePlan’ Partnership is a Win for Nostalgia Creators

If you’re watching Opening Day today with your phone locked in your pocket, you’re officially in the minority. As the first pitch crosses the plate this afternoon, Major League Baseball isn’t just fighting for your attention on the big screen—they’re moving into your “For You” page with a level of aggression we’ve never seen from the “Old Guard” of sports.

The 2026 season marks the full-scale launch of TikTok GamePlan, a massive structural partnership that finally acknowledges an underrated stat: 85% of fans are scrolling TikTok while the game is actually happening. Instead of fighting the second screen, MLB is now colonizing it.

Here’s what you need to know.

The “Vault” is Open: Why Your Feed is About to Look Different

For years, the quickest way to get a copyright strike was to post an MLB highlight without permission. Today, the “Vault” is officially unlocked. Through the new GamePlan Creator Program, select TikTok creators are being handed the keys to MLB’s current highlights and—more importantly for us at Decked Out—their massive archival library.

This isn’t just about reposting home runs. It’s about “remix culture.” By granting creators access to everything from 90s walk-offs to 1920s legends, MLB is betting that the next generation of baseball fans will be recruited through lo-fi edits, AI-narrated deep dives, and nostalgic storytelling.

Starting today, searching “MLB” on TikTok triggers the MLB Hub, a dedicated in-app destination that serves as a high-tech second-screen companion. Powered by the GamePlan suite, the Hub features:

  • Real-Time “Anchor” Links: Interactive tags on videos that let you buy tickets, check schedules, or shop the latest drop without pausing your scroll.
  • Global Localized Feeds: Specialized hubs for Japan, Korea, Mexico, and Europe, catering to the international explosion of interest following Ohtani’s dominant 2025 run.
  • The Weekly Roundup: Long-form series recaps designed to keep the momentum going during the 162-game grind.

Per MLB, As part of the expanded partnership, select creators will gain access to MLB’s current and archival content, which will enable creators to tell baseball stories in fresh, creative ways that resonate with the TikTok community. Additionally, throughout the season, MLB will share thrilling highlights after every game, long form videos recapping each series, and weekly roundups showcasing the week’s most exciting baseball moments.

And that’s not all either.  Fans can also search ‘MLB’ to access the robust MLB Hub, powered by TikTok GamePlan, which provides a unique second-screen experience featuring game updates, highlights, behind-the-scenes content, and creator perspectives—all designed to deepen engagement and drive tune-in to live games.

Baseball’s ‘Open Source’ Future

By opening the vaults and handing the keys to the creator class, MLB is finally admitting that the game is bigger than the 27 outs on the field. In 2026, a sport’s relevance isn’t measured by how many people sit through a three-hour broadcast; it’s measured by how many ways that broadcast can be remixed, shared, and re-imagined.
