LOS ANGELES, CA — Meet Carson Roney, a Texas-based lifestyle and sports creator who has built a community of more than 6.6 million followers through her blend of basketball, fashion, wellness and lifestyle content. A former collegiate basketball player turned full-time content creator, Roney has become a standout voice in the growing intersection of women’s sports and digital culture. Roney’s content reflects a balance of athletic grit and modern femininity, whether she’s shooting hoops, styling a courtside outfit or sharing the behind-the-scenes realities of life as a creator.
She also continues to expand her presence in the sports world, recently being tapped for major creator-driven sports activations like the NBA Emirates Creator Cup that just took place in Las Vegas, highlighting how her unique platform is resonating across traditional and digital sports audiences alike.
I sat down with Roney for an interview to discuss how she blends style, athleticism and relatability in her content, the rise of women creators in the sports space, how she stays grounded, inspired and balanced and more.

Decked Out Magazine: Whether it’s TikTok or NYFW, you can do it all. Can you talk a bit about your journey?
Carson Roney: I’ve always been into fashion since I was young. I started “collecting” shoes every chance I could. As my shoe collection grew, I got more and more into finding pieces that matched a specific shoe which grew my style tremendously and I got really into street wear. Outside of fashion, I have been posting on social media for a little over 6 years now! It’s funny because before TikTok, I grew up doing gymnastics/tumbling and cheerleading. My mom, to this day, teaches tumbling, so I’ve been able to do a back handspring since I could walk, but because I grew up in a dance environment, I have always loved to dance and listen to music. Before TikTok was even a thing, I would make Dubsmash videos and choreograph “music videos” with my sister and cousins all the time growing up. Then I started to get into other sports, such as basketball and volleyball, and played both in college! While in college, I started posting on social media as a fun way to “escape” from the stress of sports and was just posting on tiktok for fun! I was dancing, doing skits, doing basketball/volleyball videos and just showing my personality through videos.
Then one day a few videos got some traction and it was a good feeling to have
that many people telling you what you’re doing is really cool. So I kept posting 3-5 times a day for over a year and grew my following on all platforms! I love being someone that isn’t stuck in a box of just makeup content or JUST basketball content but someone who kinda does it all. I am someone who enjoys so many things and loves to share my journey with you all.
Decked Out Magazine: How do you blend style, athleticism and relatability into your content? Or better yet, what is the Carson Roney blueprint?
Carson Roney: Honestly, I am a very Type B person, as people would say. I am by no means super organized or have a strict schedule. I wake up and see what I’m feeling that day. Some days I’m very inspired with fashion and design a whole outfit and want to drop a clothing brand …… which may or may not be coming soon and then the next day I see a vision to film this workout video in high quality and make it look like a whole commercial just because. I think sometimes on social media, people say, “you’re not the same anymore,” and that’s okay. You’re not supposed to be. I have grown so much as a human since I started posting in 2019. I’m so glad I’m not the same person I was 6 years ago, and that’s okay! Since day one I have had “be you” in my bio because I’ve always just authentically been myself online and I think that’s the best way to be. Find a good mix of being relatable but also being yourself!
Decked Out Magazine: You’ve partnered with giants. How do you vet a brand’s infrastructure before you sign? Are you looking at their tech-stack, their long-term vision?
Carson Roney: I think a lot of things go into deciding who I partner with. I think the biggest one is if it aligns with me and my values. My first thoughts are always is this brand something I use, is it something I’ve tried before, is it something I’ve been wanting to try, or does this brand fit into my content/lifestyle? Personally, I don’t look too much into the tech side or the digital space, I look more into what the campaign might be about or the overall vibe of the product.I’ve turned down a lot of brands/campaigns before because they just don’t fit into my lifestyle or it’s been a product that I might not agree with their values. It really just depends on a lot of different factors which could vary with how many different brands are out there.
Decked Out Magazine: What do you think the future of storytelling in sports through content holds?
Carson Roney: I think that even within the last year, I have been seeing so much more storytelling about women’s sports on social media than I ever have before. And I think social media has had a huge positive impact on women’s sports and hopefully continues to do so, so women get the opportunity to be paid what they should. I’ve been seeing a lot more women commentating on sports broadcasts and doing podcasts explaining sports, or even having an entire TikTok page dedicated to explaining sports to the girls and sometimes sports can be intimidating to someonethat doesn’t know much about them so overall I think that’s great.
Decked Out Magazine: What are your plans for the future?
Carson Roney: This past year was very busy and work focused for me and the goal is to do the same this upcoming year. I have a few exciting things in store! I’m working on a project this year that I’ve always wanted to do and hopefully you guys get to see that very soon. I’m working with some of my dream brands this year and while I continue to stay in the sports world, I do want to open up more into fashion this year, and start to tell a story through my clothing and content!
