“Mary-Kate and Ashley are taking a bite out of the Big Apple… in France!”

Storyline

Thirteen-year-old twins Melanie and Allyson Porter are completely consumed by standard suburban teen life until their parents decide to broaden their cultural horizons. Sent to spend spring break in France with their estranged grandfather, Edward, the US Ambassador to France, the girls anticipate an international fairytale. Instead, they find their lifestyle lifestyle-locked by their grandfather’s hyper-strict corporate handler, Jeremy. Breaking free from their rigid diplomatic schedule, the sisters team up with two French boys on mopeds to explore the visual landscapes of Paris, experience early romance, and save a critical embassy dinner.

Trivia & Fun Facts

  • The Global Travelogue Pivot: *Passport to Paris* stands as a massive structural milestone for Dualstar Entertainment, initiating the wildly profitable travel-based movie framework that defined the twins’ late-90s and early-2000s direct-to-video catalog strategy.
  • Hollywood Legacy Lineage: The film tracking marks the very first screen credit for actor Ethan Peck—grandson of legendary Hollywood icon Gregory Peck—who anchors the narrative as the girls’ French companion, Michel, years before stepping into the role of Spock in *Star Trek: Discovery*.
  • Directed by a Comedy Veteran: The project was helmed by director Alan Metter, the creative force behind massive 1980s theatrical assets including Rodney Dangerfield’s smash comedy hit *Back to School* and *Girls Just Want to Have Fun*.
  • Authentic European Telemetry: Bypassing cheap soundstages, the physical camera crews filmed extensively on location in France, immortalizing late-90s snapshots of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Arc de Triomphe.
