According to box office trackers, the film has officially climbed past Christopher Nolan’s landmark 2008 blockbuster, The Dark Knight, in total worldwide box office earnings. The film has maintained a historically strong theatrical run, leveraging steady weekly holds and immense international demand to breeze past the Caped Crusader’s long-standing $1,006,234,167 global lifetime gross.

Additional records for MICHAEL surpassing Oppenheimer at the box office two weeks ago to secure the title for highest-grossing biopic of all-time, and bypassing both The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on the all-time list the week prior. Additionally, the film breezed past the historic $979 million lifetime global box office take of Walt Disney’s 1994 animated classic, The Lion King on July 1, adding yet another monumental landmark to its legendary run.

MICHAEL’s theater run included a historic trajectory overwhelming wave of support across international territories. Audiences throughout Europe, Latin America, and Asian markets consistently packed theaters week after week, driving up ticket sales and pushing the film’s global profile past several iconic cinematic milestones.
