The Menu History
In September 2007, Domino’s executed a major menu revamp by introducing the Oreo Dessert Pizza. This popular (and beloved) item from the late 2000s replaced standard savory ingredients with an entirely sweet flavor profile. It utilized a thin, 10-inch round crust baseline, layered with a sweet vanilla cream sauce instead of marinara, and was topped with a heavy coating of crushed Nabisco Oreo cookie pieces, making it the ultimate sweet treat.
The dessert was completed with a drizzled layer of white icing across the top. It was launched as a highly successful promotional menu add-on to capture the late-night snack demographic. While the item was a massive viral hit on college campuses during the late 2000s, it was eventually phased out by 2010 to make room for the company’s newer dessert innovations like the Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes.
The Numbers
- The Footprint: Measured exactly 10 inches in diameter, cut into 8 dessert wedges.
- The Legacy: It remains one of the most fondly remembered and requested “sweet pizza” experiments of the late 2000s fast-food era.
