Inside Jaafar Jackson’s First Met Gala: The $56 Secret Behind His Red Carpet Curls

Jaafar Jackson has officially made his first Met Gala red carpet appearance.

The Michael star—fresh off a global press tour that has seen the biopic soar to a $424M box office haul—made his debut walk up the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps tonight. For his appearance, Jackson donned a Polo Ralph three-piece suit that paid homage to his uncle, and worked with Melissa DeZarate to achieve his curls for the carpet. For the event, DeZarate partnered with haircare and tools brand Bur Bur to keep his hair shiny and fresh, using one product in particular—the brand’s popular Growing Season Hair Oil ($56).

The product, which has stellar 5-star reviews, is described as being a high performance botanical hair oil that visibly strengthens hair, adds shine softness and supports healthy hair growth.

Additional fans of the Bur Bur include the likes of Zendaya, Hunter Schaefer, Joey King and more, and the company has steadily risen in popularity over the years. Of her work with Jackson, DeZarate stated:

This was such a special moment to be a part of, my main goal was to just make sure that he felt the most himself and that I let him shine. For this look, I spread the Growing Season Hair Oil on my palms and gently pressed it into his hair for shine and extra glow. His hair is already naturally very perfect, so it’s just making sure that nothing is out of place and checking it from all angles.
