So…you’ve probably heard that The North Face x Skims collab is sold out on most retailers. That’s a bummer, but certainly no surprise considering the 2024 drop sold out in under five minutes. This year’s “Drop 2” included many more sought-after items, such as the Nuptse Wrap Parka and select kidswear, which also sold out quickly. Considering the massive popularity of both brands, it’s easy to see why this collection has been a big hit two straight years in a row. You have The North Face bringing the technical “gorpcore” authority, while SKIMS brings the viral, body-sculpting aesthetic the brand has become known for over the years. Unlike standard TNF gear, these collections use SKIMS’ signature monochromatic tones (Bone, Kyanite, Gunmetal, Phoenix), nailing the “Quiet Luxury” trend perfectly.

The Price Breakdown
Let’s do a price check. These are the traditional retail prices for the items in question:
Retail Prices:
- 1996 Nuptse Jacket: $400
- 2000 Retro Nuptse: $350
- Refina Bodysuit: $140
On platforms like Poshmark and StockX, the prices are currently inflated by 50 to 150 percent. That’s a pretty hefty price surge, leaving you with the question of whether or not you should make the splurge. I think you should, and here’s why.
Why You Should Purchase
The North Face is a brand with true lasting power, as its silhouettes are known for lasting at least a decade (or longer). Combine that with the soft, luxe quality SKIMS offers, along with the “SKIMS-ified” fit that is known to be more flattering than standard boxy puffers, and you’ve got a double threat for both fashion and function. Here’s my recommendation. If you missed out on core pieces, then the splurge is worth it because those never go out of style. If, however, you are looking at the smaller accessories that are 3 times their original price tag, then I would skip, as you can find similar pieces in the main SKIMS “Outdoor” line for a fraction of the cost.
